Melbourne, Australia – June 8, 2016 – Hortonworks, Inc.® (NASDAQ: HDP) today announced AGL Energy Limited (AGL), one of Australia’s largest energy providers, has selected Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP®) to help deliver a better customer experience.
With HDP, AGL will streamline business processes across its customer service, digital and marketing teams. AGL intends to connect HDP to a wider audience internally including those information consumers who use existing reporting tools, analysts within the business who are largely familiar with SQL and its data scientists.
AGL Data Platform Specialist David Hamilton said HDP will complement AGL’s existing infrastructure while consolidating various data sources from siloed apps and databases. “In doing so, AGL will deliver data in a unified view for use by its internal analytics teams. By building a consolidated data lake based on HDP, AGL will be equipped to leverage the flexibility of the Hadoop ecosystem. Our journey to actionable intelligence with Hortonworks is going to provide a foundation to help us meet our customers’ needs and enhance their experience with us, and also continue to grow our business,” Mr Hamilton said.
John Kreisa, vice president of international marketing at Hortonworks, added, “AGL is a fantastic example of the pattern we are seeing across Asia and Australia, as more businesses look to move to next-generation data architecture. Customers adopting Connected Data Platforms are uncovering new opportunities and efficiencies, not to mention the clear and measurable impact on the customer experience – all critical elements of a successful business.”
