Sixth Annual Apache Hadoop Community Event Boasts more than 90 Breakout Sessions and Seven Tracks Dedicated to Enabling the Next-generation Data Platform
PALO ALTO, CA — May 1, 2013—Hadoop Summit North America 2013, the premier Apache Hadoop community event, today announced that the program is now available for review http://bit.ly/119Iidb. The oldest and largest Apache Hadoop event is now in its sixth year, bringing together an ever-expanding community of developers, data scientists, architects, administrators, data analysts and vendors all interested in advancing, extending or implementing Apache Hadoop. The two-day event, will be held at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, CA, on June 26th and 27th, and is expected to be a sold-out event with more than 2,700 attendees.

Jer Thorpe, an artist and educator known for exploring the many-folded boundaries between science, data, art and culture, will keynote day two of the event. Hadoop Summit 2013 will feature more than 90 breakout session and seven different tracks focused on Apache Hadoop use cases and success stories, best practices, cautionary tales and technology insights. The industry’s pioneers, early adopters and project experts will all be in attendance to discuss the latest developments, including Apache Hadoop 2.0, share development and administration tips and tricks, and educate organizations about how best to leverage Hadoop as a key component in the next-generation enterprise data architecture.
The Apache Hadoop community collectively created the Hadoop Summit program agenda via “community choice” voting and committee selections of the final abstracts. More than 350 session abstracts were submitted and nearly 6,000 users cast more than 15,000 votes in the community choice voting process to fill a portion of the agenda. The program features speakers from more than 50 companies representing various industries, from retail to financial services to healthcare to Web. Organizations such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, eBay, LinkedIn, PayPal, Salesforce Sears Holdings, Netflix and Twitter will be presenting at the Summit.
