SANTA CLARA, Calif.—May 22, 2017—Hortonworks® (NASDAQ:HDP), a leading innovator of open and connected data platforms, today announced it has appointed Frank Mong as chief marketing officer (CMO). Mong is a seasoned enterprise marketing executive and brings 20 years of software and security marketing experience to Hortonworks. As CMO, he will be responsible for accelerating Hortonworks’ global marketing strategy to continue Hortonworks’ rapid growth.
Hortonworks recently reported first quarter 2017 revenue growth of 35 percent year over year, including support subscription growth of 52% year over year. The company has solutions in market today that span cloud, data center and the Internet of Things which have been adopted by over half of the Fortune 100 to transform their businesses. Mong’s experience in enterprise software and strength in product marketing will further enhance Hortonworks’ go-to-market strategy and global expansion.

Mong was previously senior vice president of product, industry and solutions for Palo Alto Networks, where he was responsible for directing product marketing, industry marketing and overall solutions marketing for the company’s entire portfolio. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of solutions for the HP Enterprise Security Products organization and held senior leadership roles at Silver Spring Networks, Trend Micro, Symantec and SonicWALL.
