Hortonworks Data Platform Modernizes IT for Hewlett Packard Enterprise

SANTA CLARA and SAN JOSE, Calif., (Hadoop Summit) June 29, 2016 Hortonworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: HDP) a leading innovator of open and connected data platforms, today announced that Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is upgrading its Enterprise Analytics and Business Intelligence capabilities using the Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP®). HDP will enable HPE to securely integrate the tools it needs and achieve higher performance, all at a significantly lower cost.

HPE is currently executing an end-to-end IT transformation that will reduce cost, speed transactional processing, improve reporting and deliver high advanced analytics.  This modernization of its current data architecture with HDP will decrease operating costs by millions, but also deliver significant improvements in HPE’s Enterprise Analytics and Business Intelligence areas.

“We are excited to partner with HPE to help them achieve their goals. Our commitment to staying 100% open continues to be attractive to both customers and partners, and allows us to help them address their complete data needs,” says Herb Cunitz, president, Hortonworks. “Hortonworks is proud to pair our connected data platforms with our superior service and support to help operationalize and optimize HPE’s Hadoop deployment.”

“We needed a solution that would be flexible, open and integrate with our analytic and BI solutions,” said Brian Hodgdon, vice president of information technology, Center of Excellence at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “Hortonworks and HDP were instrumental in establishing capabilities that supported both our current and go forward business needs; moreover, at a significant reduction in operating costs.”

This Hadoop data lake is the foundation of HPE’s ambitious project to democratize analytics for the multibillion dollar enterprise. The central repository will house all “certified” enterprise data, and be linked to multiple satellite Hadoop clusters that can be accessed by all analytics super users and multiple analytics tools concurrently. The goal is to open up innovation in analytics through self-service consumption and governance. With a single end-to-end Connected Data Platform, HPE IT will be able to serve up all enterprise data with unprecedented speed, accuracy, simplicity and flexibility, to truly unleash business value through accelerated insights.

HPE is delivering a keynote titled “Enterprise Grade Hadoop – Accelerating the Value of Big Data” at Hadoop Summit on June 29th in San Jose.
