Strategic Relationship to Accelerate the Delivery of Hadoop-based Solutions for Windows Server and Windows Azure
Sunnyvale, Calif.—October 12, 2011—Hortonworks, a leading contributor to Apache Hadoop projects, today announced a strategic relationship with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) to accelerate and extend the delivery of Apache Hadoop-based distributions for Windows Server and Windows Azure. With its unmatched Apache Hadoop domain expertise, Hortonworks will add to Microsoft’s data platform with SQL Server 2012 and investments for managing big data. The relationship was announced today during the keynote at the PASS Summit in Seattle, WA.

Hortonworks will provide Microsoft with important Hadoop support and training that will help accelerate the delivery of Microsoft’s Hadoop-based distribution for Windows Server and Windows Azure, including input around feature roadmap and designs; feedback on code reviews; and regression and acceptance testing.
